Sarah Sweetman

Senior Partner

After completing a psychology degree, Sarah started work in industry as part of internal teams that reviewed and implemented changes across all manner of operational and management processes to drive greater commercial efficiency and value.  Her career in this field took her into Financial Services and Supermarket Retail companies where at an early stage the pivotal importance of human mindset, behaviour and capability in achieving business results became increasingly clear.  This took her back to her psychology roots at which stage she completed a postgraduate in Organizational Psychology before spending 9 years at a leading consultancy, 7 of these as Director.

Recently Sarah founded the business psychology consultancy Organizational Edge, teaming up with some other chosen professionals.  This opportunity presents greater freedom to refresh what is offered in the field, ensuring is draws on latest thinking whilst blending it with her learning from a breadth of commercial exposure across many sectors.  Sarah is also extremely interested in improving the way that consultancies structure themselves and manage their resources and operation in a way that allows better results to be achieved and relationships to be built with client organisations.

Sarah’s main areas of business focus and experience include:

  • Company wide change programme design and support: optimising merger and acquisition situations by positively addressing cultural issues; adapting to new opportunities and pressures from the market or government policy.
  • Executive Board facilitation: working with senior teams to set strategy and direction, improve team working, decision making and conflict management and encourage refreshed thinking across a variety of strategic and business issues.
  • Helping senior people achieve leadership potential: designing and delivering senior leadership programmes and masterclasses; coming from a basis of working with individual raw material, but set in the context of business strategy and consequent skill, behavioural and mindset requirements.
  • Individual profiling; designing or using robust tools to unveil capabilities, personal drivers and value sets etc. in order to support career and business decisions.
  • Executive coaching: mainly MD and Director level; optimising and adjusting to new roles, getting performance out of teams; turning ideas into goals and action; dealing with conflict.
  • Employee engagement: making sense of organizational values in the context of peoples’ jobs; effective cascade of business strategy and goals; interventions to help secure employee retention, depending on the local drivers and influences.
