Dorothea has worked as a consultant in the field of development for more than 18 years. Leadership development and coaching are her key areas of expertise and she combines a pragmatic approach with an ability to develop valuable insights for organisations and people. She manages to blend a supportive and inspiring style with constructively challenging others. She also has extensive experience in assessment methods including development centres, 360 degree evaluation and psychometric questionnaires.
Dorothea has an M.A. in Human Resource Development and has been a visiting tutor at Cranfield University on the ‘Managing Personal Effectiveness’ module of the MBA programme using a model of human development based on bioenergetics. Her earlier background was in sales and sales management for the Thomson Organisation amongst others and this was followed by a successful career in search and selection where she became a shareholding Director of a twenty strong Company. Her interest in what made people successful beyond their functional expertise led her into the field of Organisational and Leadership Development
She is trained and highly skilled in a wide range of psychometric instruments (British Psychology Society level A and B) including California Psychological Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Firo B, the full Hogan suite, 16PF, as well as a range of emotional intelligence measurement instruments. She has gained certification as an EQ Map Instructor from Qmetrics Inc. Chicago and Hay McBer Goleman competency approach to emotional intelligence. She is a Member of the Association of Coaching, Affiliate of the BPS and Member of its Special Coaching Group. She is a certified Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic programming and an accredited NLP Coach. She attends monthly supervision at the Tavistock Institute to reflect and learn from her coaching practice.
Her experience is very broad, spanning activities such as:
- Design and delivery of leadership development programmes aimed at raising the effectiveness of senior teams in major Organisations, covering areas such as coaching, dynamic communication, performance management and the general area of emotional intelligence
- Coaching Senior Managers and Directors across a broad range of business sectors. to go beyond their comfort zones in order to develop their self awareness, and create new ways of working with others.
- Individual In-depth Assessment to identify development themes for individuals and teams, succession planning and culture change
- Intact Team Workshops to develop effective relationships and rally energy and motivation to the common purpose.
